Giovana Braia

Personal Trainer, Stretchologist & Dance Teacher

Giovana trained as a professional dancer/actress/singer in one of London’s top Dance & Musical Theatre Academy’s – The Urdang Academy. Along with her BA, Giovana is a an ISTD qualified Dance Teacher as well as a Fitness Instructor/ Personal Trainer.

Giovana coaches individuals to reach their goals and aims to empower people to fulfil their full potential. Giovana gained a passion for extreme sports such as Sky diving, Kick Boxing and Scuba diving and specialises as a Stretchologist in the StretchLAB, London.

Being in the performing industry for over 20 years, Giovana has knowledge on the impact the industry has on the body and ways to overcome it.

Over the years I've been fortunate to be trained and mentored by some truly innovative and influential yoga practitioners such as Max Strom of Inner Axis, Triyoga's Anna Ashby and James Reeves of Irest Yoga nidra. With a background in the film and television industry as a stunt performer, and as a busy mother of three boys, I understand the demands we can place on our bodies and the importance of a strong core - both physical and mental! I'm excited about sharing my positive outlook and life inspiration with others through my unique blend of 'breath, balance and being' based yoga.

I’m passionate about delivering an authentic, accessible and inclusive yoga practise, inspiring you to function at a much higher level, not only during your practise but in your everyday life.

My classes are a balance of developing strength, flexibility and deep relaxation with a strong emphasis on breath work and healthy body alignment.

Having worked with the hyper-mobile, the inexperienced and the super fit - to individuals recovering from injuries - I aim to give my unique insight and support to assist an appropriate, yet challenging level for each of my students. I teach from a purpose built home studio with small numbers of students in each class, allowing me to offer personal attention and guidance. I also offer private tuition tailored to particular goals or challenges you may have.

Jason Elliott

Unconventional Coach

Jason is a Strong First Level Two certified personal trainer and has been in the industry since 2003, training everybody from the general population to ex England footballers. His vast knowledge and experience of many different tools of the trade enables him to design creative and effective strength training programs for both men and women.

His sporting passion is American Football. He formerly played for the Birmingham Bulls and Merseyside Nighthawks along with the Great Britain reserves. His success in this area proves that professional training and personal commitment pay off.

Jason’s philosophy of working hard and staying positive in order to gain optimum results, works. He is fully aware that we can easily get bored with the same old exercises, and the same amount of sets, reps, load and rest.

His belief is that change can be good for both our mental approach and overall performance and his clients at Personal Trainer Wirral know and love the fact that he does things differently than the conventional gym or training studio.

As he puts it he likes to break the rules and focus on what he calls his unconventional training. He loves nothing better than to use training tools such as kettlebells, steel mace, and bulgarian bags in his sessions as these provide plenty of challenging and fun ways to work out. His believe is that his unique and unconventional training style adds life and energy to what sometimes an be a monotonous training plan.

But the fun at PTW doesn't stop there—just when you don’t think he can pull anything else out of his training toolbox, Jason may throw in suspension training or even using your own bodyweight as resistance to do some unconventional exercises that will work your entire body.

Strength & Body Composition

Nobody ever sets out to be average. I believe that anyone is capable of anything if they apply themselves and my mission is to guide people in how to do this. Now the motivational BS is out the way I can give you a little insight to my story and how my ethos developed.

Being superhuman has always fascinated me. I idolised superman as a young child and grew up watching World’s Strongest Man admiring the incredible feats of strength. After starting working in a commercial facility, I slowly started to become obsessed with human performance. I consumed as much info from blogs, articles, videos as possible and started to build a backlog of training knowledge to put in to action. There’s not many training methods, dietary strategies and supplement protocols I haven’t tried.

As I’ve progressed this catalogue of information has been funnelled down to two main passions that I’m solely intent on pursuing; strength training and cognition. To me, there is nothing greater than seeing what your body is capable of and there is nothing more impressive than picking up something incredibly heavy and putting it back down again. This, in tandem with fully utilising the power of our incredibly brains, equates to the main constituents you need to be superhuman.

My objective is to provide content in the form of articles, podcasts, vlogs and programmes to ensure everyone of interest has all the tools necessary to build the best version of themselves. All my methods are anecdotally and scientifically backed, focused on strength, hypertrophy, injury prevention and maximising intelligence.

Nicole Yeomans

Zoologist

Nicole is a Zoologist with over 12 years’ experience in the industry. She trained Komodo Dragons as a zookeeper in Spain, co-founded the UK's first sanctuary for King Cobras, and researched coral reef bacterial communities in the Maldives.

She has written published marine policy for the UK government, sits on the University of Derby’s Environmental Sciences Board of Advisors and is a Biodiversity Specialist for a fortune 500 company.

In her spare time, Nicole loves writing, scuba diving and martial arts -especially the art of the samurai sword which she has been training in for over 8 years.

Tom Lowes

Osteopath & Medical Acupuncturist

Tom is an Osteopath and medical acupuncturist with a masters degree in Sports Medicine.

He has worked extensively in the film and entertainment industry since 2010, with his role usually being 1:1 with cast in an injury prevention or rehabilitation capacity.

He's been fortunate enough to be have been involved in franchises such as Star Wars, Game of Thrones and Bond, as well as supporting a number of artists in the music industry.

Andy Torbet

Professional cave diver, free diver, climber & skydiver

As well as leading a number of exploratory expeditions Andy also performs technical stunts for documentaries and films, has presented 22 TV series on the BBC, CBBC, Discovery US, CH5 and the History Channel, written over 250 articles and one book.

After 10 years in the British Forces as a Bomb Disposal Officer and Paratrooper, Andy left to pursue a career in exploration and film-making. This has seen him on adventures around the world including free dive under the Alaskan ice, stand in a 700 degree fireball, climb a 12 storey glass building, swim with sharks and cave dive inside icebergs.

As well as many world first's to his name in underwater exploration, he also competed internationally in Speed Skydiving.

Heather Pearson

Heather Pearson MSc ST MSMA MART Dip Sp. Psych., Dip APT., is a well-respected sports therapist and strength coach. In 2001 Heather was involved in a traumatic car crash where she sustained whole body injuries, multiple trapped nerves, headaches and whole body dysfunction - for years she couldn’t walk properly without pain or a limp. After many years of battling with agony, Heather changed industry, became a therapist and coach and founded 1body4life. 15 years later, Heather has travelled the world to learn from the most elite coaches’ and health professionals. She decided the more she could resolve her own injuries the more she could provide the most effective results to help others.

Heather has become an expert in her field and is renowned for resolving complex injuries with her innovative, self-created systems of diagnosis and rehabilitation, advanced soft tissue skills, nutrition and sports psychology work. Heather has worked with a range of professional athletes including top level lifters, physique competitors, football players and ironman athletes as well as strength coaches and personal trainers in the UK and across Europe. Her athletes include Tom Cairney - Fulham FC, Chrissie Wellington 4 x Ironman World Champion, Jerome Kumedzina 6 x British Champion, Bronze World medalist and Dave Beattie 4 x World Champion Powerlifter.

Heather teaches biomechanics to personal trainers and strength coaches in the UK and liases with trainers and coaches all over the world. She is Europe’s first and only ART® (Active Release Provider) Lead Instructor teaching to chiropractors, osteopaths, sports therapists, physiotherapists, sport massage therapists and strength coaches including elite medical staff in premiership football. Heather recently won the very exclusive ART® Instructor of the year award.

Heather has worked pitch-side for soccer teams for 14 years and since 2010 she has helped produce the most successful ISFA league soccer team in UK’s history, winning 5 seasons in row with Bradfield College 1st XI. She has a close working relationship with the medical team at the UK Premier League’s Tottenham Hotspur FC.

As an educator, Heather has voluntarily presented at various sports colleges around the UK over the last decade. She has been a guest on podcasts in the UK, USA and Dubai and has lectured at various conferences around the world; ‘Recovery for Athletes’ @ Women in Sport Conference, Sports Speed Institute, Washington DC, USA; ‘Upper and Lower Body Injuries’ @ Annual Conference, Irish Strength Institute, Dublin, Ireland; ‘Female Upper Body Weight Training Injuries’ @ SWIS (Society of Weight Training Injury Specialists) Conference, Toronto, Canada.

She recently published a book on back pain called ‘Back Pain Free - Put an end to your suffering with the Pearson Method’. Heather holds a Master’s degree in Sports Science and Nutrition, 9 diplomas and is certified in 35 modalities of treatment, nutrition, brain therapy, sports psychology and strength coaching. Heather continues to travel the world learning from the best. Her motto is ‘it’s all about the result, the proof is in the pudding!’.

Katie Ball

Strength & Body Composition Coach

Katie brings a broad-spectrum of life experiences to her role, having multiple different careers, from a 9-5 office job, supporting young people with disabilities, graduating from university with a First-Class Honours Degree in Adult Nurse. As a qualified Nurse, she has extensive experience working with a diversity of people with acute and chronic health conditions in the National Health Service (NHS) in emergency, critical care and research services. She has transitioned into a career of coaching and personal training to help others in her own way, using her broad skills and life experiences. After all, prevention is better than cure.

Katie coaches’ individuals to a healthier more fulfilled life and higher levels of performance by inspiring and empowering them to achieve their goals through individualised training, nutrition, mindset, lifestyle management and education. She has a strong belief that you can do anything you set your mind to, and has proven this with her own health and body transformation journey and career change to Coaching and Personal Training. Physical activity has always been a huge part of Katie’s life growing up she played field hockey from the age of four years old. She has represented her, county, region in Europe and has captained club teams in the Women’s National Hockey League.

Through her passion to get incredibly strong she recently turned her hand to competitive Strong Woman this year and became England’s Strongest Natural Woman at U65kg and placed third in the British Finals and has qualified for the World Final’s in October this year.

Lotte Bowser

Yoga Instructor

Lotte discovered yoga in 2013, after a decade of training in performing arts at Italia Conti Associates. Over the past 5 years she has completed her 500 hour certification in hatha yoga and vinyasa flow, and now offers a full schedule, teaching public classes across a number of studios in London, as well as privates, corporates and retreats. She combines her love of dance and interest in the human body to deliver creative yet informed, anatomy-focused classes.

She believes that the practice of yoga is not just limited to the 4 corners of a yoga mat. Passionate about the natural world, Lotte aims to raise awareness about environmental issues through her activism, and advocacy for sustainable living.

Doug Robson

Yoga

Originally from Botswana, Doug Robson worked several jobs in several countries before finding his path as a stuntman. He soon found his way into productions such as Jurassic World 2, Star Wars, Kingsman 2 and James Bond, as well as doubling Channing Tatum, Luke Evans and Colin Firth. After an injury prevented him from his normal training he turned his attention to Yoga. He is now one of its biggest advocates and a teacher.

With a broad experience in a diverse range of sports he created his own Yoga style which combines martial arts, gymnastics conditioning and traditional yoga Asanas to create a unique and tough set of sequence. Currently he divides his time between his work as a Stuntman and yoga teacher, but hopes to one day to concentrate solely on spreading the good word of Yoga.

Stephen Makinde

Stephen began his journey into manual medicine after seeing the failings of conventional manual therapy and medicine in dealing with biomechanical injuries and more complex multi-faceted injuries. His sporting and academic background have lead him down the path of working with some of the worlds best. Stephen has been to the Michael Johnson Performance Centre in Dallas to learn from the very best in his field and seen what cutting edge technology can be brought into a therapeutic setting to speed up the recovery of injuries.

Lauren Green

After more than a decade in the corporate world, predominantly in London, Lauren relocated back to the southern beaches of Sydney to pursue her passion in strength and conditioning.

Lauren has been training for over 20 years and understands the benefits of training, both physically and mentally.

In 2016 she participated in her first powerlifting competition and in that time has reached “elite total” status in her weight class and continues to keep pushing her own boundaries.

Pushing herself to these limits has had a huge shift towards the importance of prioritising recovery above all else. She hopes to share with you her experience for reaching your optimum potential.
