Brain Boosting Smoothie Recipe

Looking for a food-based smoothie with brain boosting properties? Look no further! In this smoothie we combine ingredients that have been shown to help improve cognitive function, mood and focus.

Blueberries have been shown to support working memory and psychomotor function in older healthy and cognitively impaired adults. There is also evidence that blueberries may help to reduce neuroinflammation that results in impaired cognitive function.

Green tea has been shown to benefit brain function via activation of working memory and there is some evidence suggesting it can help with reducing anxiety, likely resulting from the l-theanine content.

Walnuts and avocado provide some healthy plant-based essential fatty acids which have been shown to support brain function.

The anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits of curcumin is one mechanism in which it may help to improve cognitive function. We added some black pepper to enhance the absorption of curcumin.

Spinach provides a rich source of vitamin B9 (folate), which has been shown to benefit cognitive health through a number of mechanisms including the management of inflammation and homocysteine.

Kiwi fruit and red bell pepper further supply phytonutrients and antioxidants that help to maintain overall health, inflammation and oxidative stress.

We believe in making smoothies with a purpose rather than blindly throwing ingredients together. We hope you enjoy this brain boosting smoothie which works well as a snack or you could add a scoop of protein powder to make it into a healthy breakfast with a good balance of macronutrients.
